Wake Up

Today is monday. Usually every monday the traffic is awful. Yes. I began to utter like others: I hate monday. But today, I have to pick my daughter up. She stays near her campus in Sudirman. Wouw, at 7 am, three in one will be applied. Wake up, wake up, wake up.

Not only because of my daughter, waking up early in the morning is healthy. Sleep at night, wake up early. Good for our health and good for our preparation to work. Well, early bird will get the most. Ha ha... I want to get the most of the day.

About Being Old

"Happy birthday to you!" my friends shouted. Your age increases one year. Hmmm...I think my age decreases one year. Almost half a century I have lived this body. It is not nice being old. Yes, I know. People usually respect more to the elderly but...I need glasses now for reading. My friends have to speak louder for me to hear. I am not as fast as before. I have to drive slowly. Whenever I move my legs and arms I always shrink my face for pain. It is not nice being old. Do you agree?

People say however, that we cannot avoid being old. But our attitudes towards it is actually ourown choice. We can complain all the time, or we may go through the ages happily hoping always something more interesting, more promising in the near future....

Hope

Without hope people will die. Hope is the only candle that can lit other candles such as love, passion, even faith. Pastor Eka once said that life does not full of futilities but possibilities. Therefore, don't just sit and wait for your hope to become true. Work it out. Be creative and enjoy the things you do every day. Use the chance that God gives, do miss it.

I Wish You Enough

Last year I received an email containing the story below. It is very touching and full of lessons we can follow. The story is close to us. We may as well experienced the same. May you find it useful for your life. I wish you enough.

I WISH YOU ENOUGH
Source Unknown

Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.' They kissed and the daughter left.

The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?''Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'. 'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?' He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone..' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.'

Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good- bye.
He then began to cry and walked away.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.

TAKE TIME TO LIVE....To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

Pursuit of Godliness

Just before new year 2010, I received a very touching SMS like this:
"The pursuit of Godliness will not exempt us from trouble (2 Tim. 3:12). But a life dedicated to loving and pursuing God (Heb. 10:22) is always a good idea - no matter what happens. Happy new year!"

What a true writing! We live to pursue Godliness and yet it will not make us free from life's giants (trouble). But I believe that God will tame the giants for us, and let us grow bigger, wiser.

Balloons or Eggs?

I believe that you know both balloons and eggs. Which one do you like best? When I asked this question to a little young boy or girl, they quickly answered that they like balloons most than eggs. Why? Because balloons are colourful. They can fly high, and they always follow what we want. However, when I asked the same question to young adult, their answer is different. Instead of balloons they like eggs most. Why? Simply because eggs can be eaten. Hahaha

Sometimes I feel that I am like balloons. In the outside I look cheerful and colourful but empty inside! On the contrary, eggs though not as beautiful as balloons have life in it.

Which one are you?
